It's constructed with 31 jewels, and a shock absorber mechanism. The automatic self-winding Zenith El Primero caliber 3019PHC movement is rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment.

It's water resistant and the 11.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. What you may not realize (I know I didnt) was the Defy line actually started in 1969, at the same time as the El Primero calibre. There is a date aperture window between 4 and 5 o'clock, and three silver guilloche subsidiary dials, including a running constant seconds dial at 9 o'clock, a twelve-hour dial at 6, and a 30-minute register at the 3 o'clock position.
